TO THE BEACH

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

Come summer time in Ibiza, there’s only one place to be - the beach club. World renowned for their cool Balearic groove and sun-kissed sophistication, nothing quite beats a few early hours on the shore followed by a chilled glass of wine and seafood extraordinaire to wash it down. Home to iconic long-timers, the scene in Ibiza is undoubtedly established and so when a newbie emerges, it’s fair to say we get excited.

Introducing KOBA. A seafront sanctuary serving up beachfront dining in the neighbourhood of Santa Euliala, masterminded by the Umami Group venue. Heralded as a space to embrace spirituality and welcome Ibiza’s nomadic wanderers, KOBA is the perfect spot to relax, connect, unwind over good food and awesome Mediterranean views.

Positioned directly on Santa Euliala pier and the east coast of the island, the stretch regarded as the ‘wilder’ side of the island with stripped-back dining options that ring true to an authentic Ibiza history. Embracing wider cultures, the menu delights in a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine and Japanese influence to be truly exciting.

With the finest seafoods, meat and fresh produce, intricate dishes include tatar de salmon with edamame, avocado, sesame, negus yuzu, soy and caraway bread. For mains, the grilled octopus stands as one of the most popular dishes. A Spanish classic with an Asian twist, the dish is served with a creamy sweet potato, grilled vegetables and homemade kimchi mayonnaise.

The design aesthetic is nothing short of breathtaking with bamboo furniture gracing the space against white, tactile furnishings and lush plants. As unrivalled venue to kick back after a beach stroll, KOBA is all about sandy toes, salty hair and barefoot casualness. For those that stick around into the evening, this pocket of Ibiza coastline is quite simply mesmerising for those keen to watch the both the sun dip into the ocean and the moon in turn rise as the day gracefully turns to night. Once the night stars take centre stage, the music starts to dazzle with freeing Balearic beats and eclectic seventies Afro grooves to sooth the soul.

With KOBA already a firm favourite with locals, it’s the opening of UM Beach House that’s really got everyone talking this summer. As the second Balearic venue from the Umami Group, the outpost forms the sister venue for the original UM Beach House in Mallorca, which opened in 2019.

Nestled on Santa Eulalia Bay and where the river meets the sea, this hidden gem seeks to further celebrate the island’s natural beauty and spiritual heritage. Inspired by the island’s natural resources and effortless landscapes, this more bohemian venue delivers a refined experience pair with a rust decor. Your typical Ibiza wood furniture, earthy tones and soft neutrals reign in full supreme here.

Open from day and into the evening, UM Beach House imparts an unrivalled atmosphere of relaxed luxury with a transcendent party vibe. This summer, one of the biggest emerging Balearic DJs, Sebas Ramis and VIK-T will hit the decks to invite party goers to dance barefoot by the sea. With a tantalising Mediterranean menu and an extensive cocktail list brimming with exotic island flavours, UM Beach House is an unparalleled taste sensation.
